Please join the Massachusetts Department of Secondary and Elementary Education (DESE) in collaboration with Generation Citizen as a volunteer Community Advisor for one or more of our four Massachusetts Civics Project Showcases. Showcases will be held 5/28 at Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, and 6/2 at the DCU Center in Worcester.
A Civics Showcase is like a science fair, but for civics—where middle and high school students present their student-led civics projects to business, civic, academic and nonprofit leaders like you.
As a Community Advisor, you and 100+ other guests will authentically engage with our students and provide them feedback on their civics projects. The Showcase is a prime opportunity to learn directly from young people why they're committed to not just talking about change, but to truly leading it in their communities and beyond.
During the Civics Project Showcases, there will be time for networking with students and your fellow advisors. After you sign up below, we will follow up with all registrants to confirm participation and provide additional details as the date approaches. You will receive a brief training at the start of the event on your role as a Community Advisor. Breakfast and lunch provided!
