In partnership with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United Way of Pioneer Valley is responding to these direct threats to SNAP, the state’s largest anti-hunger program that serves approximately 139,604 residents across Hampden County and over a million throughout the state-– the majority of whom are children, seniors, and people with disabilities.
Unstable federal funding and shifting policies are threatening the reduction or elimination of food assistance, specifically SNAP benefits. Beginning November 1, SNAP benefits will be delayed until the federal government reopens, leaving approximately 30% of families across Hampden county uncertain about how they’ll put food on the table.
Help by volunteering with the United Way of Pioneer Valley distribute food through our two direct service pantries and network of local partners. Together, we're providing nourishment, dignity and hope to those who need it most. Because community starts with you, and community starts here.
Volunteers in the local community are welcome to donate food items to the United Way of Pioneer Valley. Our pantry volunteers will sort and get the items directly to the consumers who utilize the pantry. Items that are useful are nonperishable items, can openers plus items such as oil, salt, pepper and ketchup.
Food donations must be dropped off to the United Way of Pioneer Valley on Fridays.
